Thanks for the post, great find. On the many messages, I've discovered that if you ignore Paul and any messages to Paul......you have about 1/2 the messages to wade through....

This week marks the first time this year (sounds that bit more dramatic than 'this month') that CPU prices have slowed their fall. After a solid month of price drops to the AMD's Athlon lineup and Intel's slow but inevitable response last week, both manufacturer's prices are leveling off and even bouncing back a bit, especially on the Intel front. The so-called 'Price-War' must be taking a week off?

The Pentium III 600EB/133 rose by $36 and the very popular Pentium III 500 'Flip Chip' also jumped by $37 to $260. This is likely due to consumers picking up on its excellent overclocking record. Although Intel's 800MHz is now making appearances in high-end OEM systems (e.g. HP's), the CPU is yet to be put on sale due to limited quantities.

AMD's Athlon prices remained fixed with three exceptions, all at the high end. The 700MHz, 750MHz and 800MHz all fell a few dollars. But if you're looking to get one of the high-end Athlon's our tip would be to wait just a little bit longer with prices due to fall (more on that another time).
