I saw the MPEG cam and was not impressed. It's MPEG 1 and doesn't give too high a quality image. It's cool though in that you could use it to do live video and transmit it over the web. I don't know how much they will cost but I wouldn't pay more than a couple hundred dollars. It uses a codex, which is refered to as "The world first single-chip codex LSI". I'm not sure what that means. You'd think they would write "world's first" if it was the
first in the world. I don't know if LSI refers to the company LSI or something else. There's a whole list of trademark registrations at the end of the pamphlet and LSI is not mentioned. It's a good idea anyway. Hopefully the Hitachi DVD-RAM is of better quality. This could lead to many companies offering MPEG video cameras although MPEG probably isn't the best format for video cameras. It would be a good and efficent format for consumers.
Anyone have any idea who makes Hitachi chips? Does Cube have a MPEG 1 codex?

There is supposed to be a major article in the LA Times on Monday about how digital technology is causing an explosion in profits for Japanese electronics companies. Interesting how all these articles hit the press on the same day.
