Delighted to hear of the background with Fairchild.

For me, the writing started to appear on the wall when AMD grabbed THE best design team and then did their best to make them happy.

I also became aware of the fact that Intel has been relying on HWP engineers for much internal development work over the last two years.

When they did next to nothing when the K6 hit the market, it became obvious that their previous monopoly status had placed too many non-engineering types in charge.
