Glenn: OT -- Hard to say for sure what sparked it, definitely gold producers closing out shorts and possibly a sea-change on the hedging from for all producers. Some say it is the end of the 'stand-still' agreements which allowed producers to delay closing their shorts after the run-up last fall (fear of bankrupt producers forced this). Also rumors that Goldman or somebody like that got on the wrong side of the bond trade -- they are also big shorters of gold. Could be a company-specific squeeze. Whatever the cause, major stops were hit and crushed.
