BB,

I have been an investor in Checkfree for several years now through the good and incredibly bad times. This thread and you have helped me make the right decisions so that last year was very very profitable for me. I am still a believer, but have recently been devils advocate to encourage more critical thought and to protect my investment.

The managers at Checkfree are the best in the business who listen to the reason of this thread. By participating in this thread, I feel I can have some say in the direction of my investment. It wasn't too long ago on this thread that TLINDT threw out the idea of going after the portals and Checkfree did. It was this critical thinking that kept the Banks from steamrolling Checkfree under with their SPECTRUM venture. Some can argue that Checkfree shouldn't have pissed the banks off and forced their hand. However, I believe the bank move was inevitable and fortunately Checkfree gave a preemptive strike to keep itself alive and strong! Sometimes, critical opinion on this thread helps.

Checkfree is a dynamic company with the capital to be flexible and wisdom to remain a leader. For these reasons I'm with Checkfree for the long haul.

With this outlay of my beliefs aside, I will go after your arguments:

>> You think it is convenient to have your credit card company harass you on changing your billing address?

No. It is nice that Checkfree does this haggling for me when they enter into their biller agreements.

>> Or convenient to have your year mortgage tax statement accidently shipped to Paytrust.com?

Good point. Checkfree's automation actually works as a filter. Paytrust's filter is actually manual. But assuming such a statement does get put into the Paytrust system, one could argue this to be a convenience. The document isn't a negotiable instrument. All one need do is print the statement and send it whereever it is needed for tax purposes. And at year end, you have a copy of it instantly retrievable on a CD ROM. Privacy aside, this is convenient!!

>> How about Price????? I use Free bill pay through wingspan.com (via CKFR), Paytrust charges $8+.

You can get Free bill pay with other "Bill Scan" providers under current introductory offers -- Paymybills.com is free for 2 years. If this answer doesn't suffice, I suggest you investigate a new breed of bill presentment/payment integrators that are planning to offer web bill pay and presentment FREE using their web advertising profits to cover costs. You can ask TLINDT about such a company, he started a thread on one -- Checkfree is not its exclusive provider. In other words, one may be able to get Bill Payment/Presentment service for free without Checkfree as the back end. Such free use is not a threat yet, but may likely be in the near future.
