Wayne, it's not unusual for dislocations to occur in markets when there's a major innovation-driven new era. I say new era not in the sense that many bozos do; human nature hasn't changed, so the way markets behave haven't either. I mean it in the sense that we are no longer in the "post-war period", but rather in the early stage of the "information period". I'd mark its start to when the Berlin Wall fell and it was clear that networked computers and wireless communications would unlock great potential for corporations and individuals on a global basis (although the inequality of the benefits distribution is still a long way off, and could also be a cause of future dislocations).
