Kash: A VGA core taks about 20K gates plus small ram and RAM DACS it is <5mm2 in core area. Is a VGA core all that goes in the Timna? According to this it uses a S3 Savage4 core: theregister.co.uk Which you can find here: s3chips.com One normally would use less gates to be VGA compatible only and use compatibility registers combined with emulation. Simpler, saver and just as fast. Hans.
