keeping the ticker off helps, i never run the ticker, either from the level 2 window or the quote window.
I use the trans log on the level 2 window plus charts.
A lot depends on how fast your net connection is. I can only connect at 26,400, so its easy to overload it if I get a lot of fast tickers, multiple charts, multiple level2 windows etc. Turning off the ticker is a big help, as is filtering out the marjority of the news stories at the top of the quote page which I never read anyway. Each PC config and ISP is different however, some folks have no trouble with the tickers, news, level2 etc running, others do.
