Conexant touts its new SiGe technology

Feb. 04, 2000 (Electronic Buyers News - CMP via COMTEX) -- Conexant
Systems Inc., Newport Beach, Calif., recently unveiled its
silicon-germanium process technology, which will sharply reduce the
power requirements of wireless, high-speed networking, and related
applications.

Conexant's 0.35-micron, BiCMOS-based SiGe process operates at a
maximum cutoff frequency of 50 GHz for 3.3-V transistors and 70 GHz for
2.5-V transistors. The company claims its SiGE process operates at 50%
less power than competing technologies for 2-GHz wireless circuits.

Conexant is expected to announce its first SiGe-based chips later this
year.
