I've made this post on the G&K thread which list some of the competitors of CREE:

Message 12785409

Also I'd like to second Guy Gordon's statement that CREE needs to execute and that they don't have a lock on SiC devices. Their patent portfolio will offer them some leverage, but not nearly as much as rapidly outgrowing the competition. If they can achieve that then they can afford to either out spend competitors in legal battles or buy out them out.

The rapid stock rise in the last week, while welcome, is not concluding evidence that they have won the battle so to speak. IMO CREE is 18-24 months away (at least) from bridging the chasm since I don't consider Blue LEDs as the chasm defining events.
