I heard the Tyco conference call, they are coming out with an IPO on their fibre business. Planning the biggest undersea fibre optics network in the world. I believe that would be a competitor to companies like Global Crossing. They will still be buying their components from SDLI/JDSU etc.

Reconsidered the idea of a takeover of GLW. Maybe there is the possibility of a company like Ciena merging with GLW simply to increase in size to compete with the Nortels. Again, the problem emerges---NT buys from GLW. Would they want to buy from Ciena?

Actually i have heard of stories of companies like NT and LU thinking about spinnning off their components manufacturing businesses (or have a tracking stock).

I believe that Corning is one company that is about to make a major move in this industry. This stock is relatively undervalued ---actually has a PE under 100!!
It is probably a great "value" play. I have been loading up on this one. Could not believe it was under 150 a couple of days ago while the market was soaring. I seized the opportunity.

Good luck
