<Athlon ... still has trouble finding customers> ?? Just back from SAM's club...
The TOP LINE is HP Athlon-700, 128MB SDRAM, 40GB drive,
TNT2, CD-burner, DVD, sound, 17" - all for $2,399.
Next is Piii-600MHz, also from HP, for $2,000.
Next one is HP Athlon-550, ...,for $1299
Another one is HP K6-2-500, sub-1000,
The bottom box is e-something Celron.
Clearly the HP-700 is positioned as the top-end
model, with Piii as the second best.
Interesting to note that the most popular
model usually is stockpiled near the display
area. In the recent past these were sub-1000 e-Machines
with Cyrix, then with Celerons. Now the pile is
made of HP Athlons-700. |
