1X DISCUSSION - Monday, February 7, 1:00 p.m. EST/10:00 a.m. PST
The first in the CDG Digevent Series focuses on the technology that will be used to launch the world's first third generation (3G) wireless service—1X. Operators using cdmaOne, GSM or TDMA systems today will be able to adopt this IMT-2000 CDMA Multi-Carrier technology. Often called Phase one of cdma2000, 1X is also ideal for operators upgrading from analog systems.
During the event, presenters will cover a variety of topics related to 1X, including the deployment of these 3G systems, cost efficiencies, and 1X-enabled applications and services. The seminar will be moderated by Jim Takach, Director of Advanced Programs at the CDG, and presenters include Gerry Flynn, Executive Director, Technology Development for Bell Atlantic Mobile and Yiuman Leung, Senior Manager, 1XRTT at Nortel Networks

WIRELESS INTERNET DISCUSSION – Monday, February 14, 11:30 a.m. EST/8:30 a.m. PST - The hottest topic in the wireless industry today is the convergence of the Internet and wireless telecom worlds. What devices will we be using? What services will be offered? What will be the "killer apps?" How fast will data speeds need to be to make this happen?

On Valentine's Day, Perry LaForge, Executive Director of the CDG, will lead a discussion about wireless Internet and information services with William Son, CEO of NeoPoint; Dave Murashige, Vice President, CDMA Marketing and Product Management at Nortel Networks; and Keith Paglusch, Senior Vice President, Operations for Sprint PCS. Presenters will share their insight on what's happening today with the integration of wireless telephony and the Internet, and what we have to look forward to in the future.

3G TECHNICAL DISCUSSION – Friday, February 18, 1:00 p.m. EST/10:00 a.m. PST What does 3G really mean? Wireless pioneer Dr. William Lee, Vice President and Chief Scientist at Vodafone AirTouch, will present a technical overview of 3G, including future products and applications, and network optimization techniques.

Note: Digevents are a high-bandwidth experience and because of this our minimum system requirements are fairly robust 56K modem, pentium pc with sound, 800x600 16bit monitor, 4.0+ browser (preferably Explorer) and the current version of Windows Media Player (6.4). Of course the higher the bandwidth connection the better your experience will be.
