Last time gold spiked, Kuwait came forward and 'volunteered' their entire gold reserve for loans thereby negating the Washington Agreement at least in the short term. It would help to get some confirmation that say, ABX, will also cease hedging but it seems like everyone's been drawn into the gold carry that can be.
