(gba)"If you don't shop this way, you'll feel guilty."

Last night, my wife and I were walking down Bourbon Street in New Orleans. Suddenly, a young lady approached us and handed us a 'citation.' She then proceeded to place two baseball caps in our hands. According to the citation, we were charged with 'carrying a concealed smile' and 'not partying hard enough.'

She then went on to explain that she was actually a volunteer for 'Friends of American Children.' An organization that has been providing free hot meals and education programs to underprivileged children since 1980. The hats we received could be ours for a 10 dollar donation.

At this, I thought about the situation. We had just finished spending money on food and souvenirs. We had also been in and out of shops that sold some all kinds of merchandise. Yet suddenly, I was faced with an opportunity to invest in the welfare of underprivileged children while acquiring a nice value at the same time.

The caps were good quality. They were constructed light-weight brushed cotton twill caps with gold metal clasps. On the front, they displayed a 'New Orleans Jazz' logo. We were certainly receiving value; I've spent as much as $18 on similar caps. So I ended up buying one; maybe I was a little cheap. In retrospect, we should have probably gotten both.

My purpose in sharing this is to show my thought process as a consumer. I was faced with an opportunity to buy something of value and fund a charitable cause at the same time. My conscience, who is always there to ask the important questions, "Do I really need this?" or "Can I find this somewhere else.. cheaper?" is also telling me "Well, at least it's going to support the children." This reasoning is what tilted my scales towards a purchase. She then thanked us and handed us a receipt with their tax-id number.

The fact that TSIG is poised to target 1 million customers before July is exciting news. I'm confident that their value proposition will reap major rewards for them and for their shareholders.

Sitting tight, being right.. long TSIG.
