I am not trying to convince anyone that Paytrust is a better service. I am arguing, though, that augmenting CKFR with 2 of Paytrust's capabilities: 1) receive bills from any biller service and 2) "smart pay" technology would make the product more attractive to consumers. Such changes would also be more attractive to front end providers that are non-banks. The smart pay feature would obviously not be attractive to banks.

The check writing capability you described is a WEAKNESS of Paytrust's. You can do it, but the solution needs some significant improvement. With the Paytrust solution you must add the recipient as a biller and put bogus information in the appropriate required fields. It is sloppy.
