Vijay Parikh, vice president and general manager, Rockwell Semiconductor Systems says..

...modems which are Rockwell-based account for 60 to 65 percent of all current modems in use today on the computer desktop.

So what? Not one of those modems are upgradeable to 56k. Not one.

On the server or provider side he said Rockwell-based technology is deployed in a majority of installations.

All such Rockwell installations requiring investments in new hardware if they want 56k.

"You should also check to see if x2 is tested as thoroughly on the backbone of the Internet," continued Parikh. "You can ave client/server tests, but this technology also needs to be tested across the backbone of the Internet. I have not seen any backbone test results other than Rockwell's"

What is this idiot talking about? What is a backbone test? All we care about is the client/server connection. As far as the backbone goes, either the ISP has sufficient pipe and routes to the Internet backbone to support their clients, or they don't. It doesn't make an iota's worth of difference to the backbone what brand of client/server modem connection they have, or what the speed is.
