Who you gonna' call? Hint: it ain't GHOSTBUSTERS

Excite@home has been having problems with email delivery in the Pacific NW. Let me tell you it's been bad with late and non-functioning mail. When I say late I mean mail showing up a MONTH late. That's the background.

People have been screaming in the @home news groups about when was this going to be resolved. Today this post appeared.

I am aware of the mail problems in Washington, and believe the device responsible for serving the area is
out of capacity due to the growing number of users in Washington. The server admin dept in Redwood City is desperately trying to upgrade the Sun HA clusters, and have a very aggressive schedule that involves the
entire country. That's not to say that Seattle isn't a priority, in fact Seattle is at the top of the list. Unfortunately, our business partner that provides us with co-location space in Seattle where we station our servers and various routers, is saying that we cannot add
anymore equipment in their facility due to power and real estate constraints.... ? Suffice it to say, the server group was forced to put together another plan which I understand will take effect in the coming weeks. This involves several mammoth Sun boxes in our new National Data
Center (NDC) to serve the entire NW Region.

Two more Starfires to the bottom line. Gee, If they waited a couple of weeks they could have purchased W2K boxes and saved some money. <LOL>
