I might actually buy ETEK because i believe the shares of this stock would have gone up even if JDSU had NOT acquired it. Just look to others stocks in the industry, like SDLI.
Therefore, the risk is minimal if one looks at it with a
1 1/2 year time horizon. IF the JDSU deal does not go through and SDLI shares continue to go up in value, I think a SDLI/ETEK or a GLW/ETEK deal would be inevitable (there could be other combinations).

I would measure risk on the ETEK/JDSU not going through with all of the above factors in mind. IMHO, ETEK right now is a great value. Again, i would stress only if one's time horizon is about 1 1/2 years.
Conversely, if i don't buy ETEK now, i would be one of the first to jump in to ETEK if the JDSU deal for reason odd reason did not go through. I believe there would be many others who would have the same plans resulting in a cushion for the stock.

Having thought about the above, I think the odds of a deal are pretty good. IMHO, ETEK is a good buy.
