RE: Dell's IP

Tony, I like the way you're thinking here. To me, Dell's IP is their internet distribution strategy, not their box assembly strategy. I believe that it would be just shy of impossible for someone to replicate the depth of Dell's web experience, from support to add-ons after the sale. I don't think there are enough "blank" web programmers out there for a Gateway or a Compaq to get in-house, teach them a culture, and have that culture transferred to a corportation's web experience for their users. To me, the differentiator is that Dell knows their customers COLD, while the rest have it filtered to them, or not captured at all.

I may be grossly underestimating the abilities of today's web programmers. If so, please don't hack me...I'm just speculating here.
