John,

I see, anything critical in any way of big business, even if it actually promotes real free-market competition, is "socialist" or "communist". Y'all shock me with the crudeness of your rebuttals--I really expected better. Sigh.

By the way, I couldn't care less about the stock price--certainly I'm not hoping it crashes--wouldn't want to see folks hurt by that. I mean that. I wasn't aiming at the share price, good grief (as if anything I or anyone else posts is going to affect the price of MSFT--LOL), by posting that interesting article by Mr. Friedman. I would think you all would thank me for bringing to your attention such an interesting and timely article.

I do happen to care, fwiw and btw, about the share price of JDSU since lucky me I've owned it (and ETEK!) since way back when before it became the gleam in everyone's greedy eye. It's making me a fortune. Wow! Now, I don't think the coming merger of JDSU and ETEK warrants attention by the Justice Department at this point, but it bears scrutiny: if that merged entity were then to move to swallow up, e.g., SDLI and others, or restrict SDLI's ability to compete fairly, then, in the interest of protecting free-market competition, Justice should at least investigate them and I and other JDSU stockholders will have to take our lumps where the democratic chips fall. But being the savvy savoire-faire investor that I am I also own SDLI, and you should too. ;) See, I like competition and product-excellence, not somewhat-monopolistic entities that make crappy software. ;) So it goes here in the weird early 21st Century in the good ol' U.S. of A. Anyway, I'm just having fun with you guys, don't take me too seriously, I certainly don't. VBG

Cordially,

Brian
