is the yankee group examining a much small subset of the 3com estimate?

On further reflection, I think small-business IAD does intersect LAN telephony, but is not a subset wholly within LAN telephony.

For example, at least one Carrier Access Corporation ("CAC") product is a dumb terminator for bundled voice/data. It terminates the bundle, but does nothing more, and other devices are required to do something with it. Dumb terminators, while within IAD, are not within LAN telephony solutions.

Flexion both terminates the bundle, and then intelligently does something with it (provides data via the router, provides CTI via the LAN and provides telephony via the Flexion box itself).

Hence, Integrated Access Devices can intersect LAN telephony, but only when such IAD devices are outfitted with the means with which to do so.
