Indeed, Mary, you hit on the conundrum, as I thought you would.
1) They say "we haven't invested in any of these stocks" in the "picks" section
2) Meanwhile, buried in the disclaimer, they say "TheStocknet.com, its associates, its members and such reserve the right to invest in any stock profiled, reviewed, or mentioned on this site without notification to visitor/viewers."
Basically, they are saying, "even if we did have any money in these picks, we wouldn't tell you".
Yes, it's different than accepting compensation for flogging a stock, as the "small cap news" site did (boy, that recommendation really did a lot for the share price). This new site could be "frontrunning", since as I noted, they wouldn't tell you if they changed their mind tomorrow.
Seriously... if they aren't getting paid for posting their picks, and they put no money in their picks, what is the point of their site? Who is "we" anyway... if nobody knows who runs the site, it's pretty hard to know if they are playing the stock or not. Does "we" include the immediate family of the guys running the site? Hmmmmm....
You really think these guys aren't making any money off their site? Sure, and Santa Claus is real. |
