<Time to call out the militia's!!!! Lock and Load!!!!!!!!!! Take it easy there, Dan, just kibbitzing with ya. No harm meant. Peace. Ciao.>
I accept that as a peace offering, Brian. We clearly have an axiomatic standoff. You obviously don't accept mine nor I yours. Hence, it is impossible to discuss this further without common "givens" being mutually accepted.
"Petard hoisting-wise", I still wish to learn why you feel that State monopoly is ok but an alleged market-based monopoly must be broken up. The free market can evolve substitutes over time for products that are over priced. The last resort should be the the tort system.
However, The Antitrust division of the Justice Department, in my opinion, is an unnecessary step in regulating markets, which in my view, are self-regulating. Antitrust, IMO,is an elephant's graveyard, as it were, of anachronistic laws from a era of populist hysteria created by "yellow" press journalism. Unfortunately for those of us who disapprove of the utter pervasiveness of the Federal monopoly, we cannot seek redress from the tort system.
Also, how old are you, if I may ask? You sound a bit like myself when I was 20 something - a good little acadmeic statist. My point about my "You will learn" statement is that experience may temper or even reverse your idolatrous statist views, as it did mine. A net worth also helps. :)
Finally, I would urge you to post a profile like many of us do rather than just being an anonymous bombthrower. It will, IMO, help others on the thread evaluate your credibility.
