Signal Technology Corporation (AMEX:STZ) today announced that its Signal Wireless Group has entered into a strategic teaming agreement with a U.S. based telecommunications company. This agreement marks the second new win for the recently formed Signal Wireless Group and has a potential value in excess of $5 million.
Signal Technology's Arizona and California operations will design and manufacture microwave integrated transceivers which include the synthesizer, receive, transmit and IF modules. The fully integrated transceivers will be incorporated into a Sonet/SDH Broadband Access Digital Radio platform. The radio provides data rates up to 155Mb/second, delivers high-capacity wireless transport to support mobile wireless subscriber growth, fixed wireless access applications, fiber network extensions, and broadband point-to-multipoint hub connectivity.
Dr. James DiLorenzo, president of Signal Technology and the Signal Wireless Group, stated, "Broadband Access Digital radios have emerged as an integral component for cellular/PCS and multi-point backhaul wireless applications. Our relationship with this leading digital radio provider is an excellent illustration of Signal's ability to compete effectively and efficiently as we plan to leverage the products, technical talent and manufacturing resources at our California and Arizona operations. Our objective is to support the digital radio and communications industry with a complement of innovative, world-class microwave and millimeter wave wireless components."
George Lombard, Signal Technology's chairman and chief executive officer, added, "This important milestone builds further momentum in our strategy to expand Signal's presence in the wireless broadband infrastructure marketplace. Our commitment to this market sector includes Signal's recent acquisition of Advanced Frequency Products (AFP) and the formation of our Signal Wireless Group." |
