** OT ** questions re. Level II

I recently got Level II from Window On Wall Street... and as such, I am not sure what is the great benefit of having it... I like to solicit your help in understanding it...

I see the MM's and the bid and the ask windows... but, is that used as an indication of where the stock is going... and to get pre-open and after close prices...?

also, please help me understand this (and it's CMGI this morning)
Price...............Depth.........Size............Spread
118*118 1/8..........1*2..........10*3..............7/8

and, is the size in blocks or 100K shares or what exactly...?
