Allaire, Agency.com In Strategic Pact -- Agency.com to integrate Allaire's suite of Web platform products Sat Feb 05 02:26:00 EST 2000
Feb. 04, 2000 (VARBusiness - CMP via COMTEX) -- CAMBRIDGE, MASS- Marking a trend of alliances between vendors and Web integrators, Allaire Corp., based here, and Agency.com have reached an accord that names Agency.com "partner of choice" for integration of Allaire's suite of Web platform products, including Allaire Spectra, HomeSite and ColdFusion.
While the agreement, announced today, is not exclusive for either party, executives at both companies say they're looking to limit their number of strategic partners.
"There's a high incentive from a customer perspective that Allaire work with lots of top-tier folks and that Agency work with top-tier software providers. But I think the space is narrowing," says Jeremy Allaire, CTO at Allaire. "I think there are fewer top-tier integrators that we need to work with, and on the flip side, there are fewer true e-business platform vendors that the integrators are going to look at," he adds.
Allaire plans to provide support and a worldwide site license to Agency.com for its development tools through the new partnership.
"Agency is definitely what we consider to be an outstanding 'go to' partner," says Allaire.
From Agency.com's perspective, Allaire was an easy choice for partnering, says Larry Krakauer, CTO at the New York-based Web integrator.
"The main thing is that Allaire has a lot of grassroots support at Agency.com," says Krakauer. "Part of what this partnership is about is recognition from many of our software engineers that Allaire has been creating great tools...and it provides us with a way of streamlining the process of doing business with Allaire."
Agency.com will provide Allaire with consulting, branding and content personalization expertise for the Fortune 2000 customers both hope to engage.
"We have to provide a level of expertise that's almost second to none. We can't really do that without a tight relationship between us and our partners," says Krakauer. |
