plmd up 4 ! new hi... i found this on another thread..looking for news.
Saw this in the Monday (tomorrow) IBD on Page A2 at the top of the page under "Trends & Innovations":

"Altered cells may deliver insulin without needles"

"In a study published in Science, researchers engineered cells that can store insulin until a pill triggers the hormone's release.
Originally peformed on mice, the technology is now being tested on larger animals & could be ready for human testing within two years.
In diabetes, the technique theoretically would allow a patient to precisely control insulin levels to the blood by a pill. Many diabetics now must control insilin level by injection. The technique could also be used to deliver any protein that the body needs in spurts, such as growth hormone, or proteins that would provide pain relief, appetite control or correct brain chemistry."

Thought this article could be relevant to Polymedica.
