Slower than a regular NIC but seems to be more than fast enough for a cable modem. I would still prefer to use the two nic solution. An alternate approach for sharing a cable/DSL modem when you are short on PCI slots and IRQs is to use a Router such as the LinkSys BEFSR41. See computers4sure.com for more information. When using a router like the LinkSys BEFSR41 to share a cable/DSL modem you only need one NIC in each computer, the BEFSR41 provides the same level of security as NAT, network address translation, software does with the two NIC configuration, and you do not need to leave a 2 NIC computer running all of the time to share a cable/DSL modem.
