My comments were directed at the analysts view of the company over the last 3 or so months. In particular, I have Prudential's original estimate of DELL's revenue and EPS from mid year and it is off in the particulars but close in the top and bottom line. Prudential had DELL earning ~76 cents/share and 25.4 B in revenue more than 6 months ago. Pretty good estimate!

In looking at the performance of DELL this quarter, I have to say that I am very critical of management's tardiness in alerting its shareholders to the issues facing the company. We should not have to get information about how the company is doing from analysts. It is creating two classes of investors one with inside knowledge and the others with no knowledge of what the company is actually doing.

I do not know the reasons for this behavior but it is either negligent or intentional. I can see arguments for both positions.
In either case, there are now two classes of DELL shareholders:
The insiders and the outsiders.

It reminds me of the old saying "Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me."

:)
