Briand, Please forgive me to correct what you said. AVNX is making the same thing APAT is making-DWDM filter. I have few friends working for AVNX so that I know their products very well. They just call their DWDM filter as optical processor. AVNX uses a technology called Interleaver which they separate odd and even channels so that the channel density could be increased using the lower density parts. This technology was developed by Fujitsu and Fujitsu owns the patent. ETEK/JDSU all are developing the same technology now. APAT uses a technology called Fiber grating which has significant cost advantages. In addition, fiber grating can go 25Ghz or lower channel spacing, which is the future for DWDM filter, according to last year's optical conf. in san jose, ca. AVNX can only do 100 Ghz now but APAT is shipping 50 Ghz already. From 100 Ghz to 50 Ghz, AVNX needs at least a year to catch up. Therefore, I would put my hard earned money in APAT's stock instead of AVNX unless I have extra-money to play.

Good luck.
