Shoehorning Van Der Velde into this gets no one closer to a solution. Asking him to take a polygraph is a violation of his rights and unecessary. I would advise him not to take it. Suspect who are knowledgeable know that offering to take a polygraph is safe as they rarely are set up or have enough evidence to get one going on short notice. They are totally unreliable as evidence and can easily be fooled by a trained respondent.

I think we should go back to induction. What does the evidence say? Serial killers or robbers actually rarely get that bloody. It was rage opportunity crime. Unfortunately that points to a lover or would be lover.

Lots of evidence there. They are too cold for all that, although they do work rage up as an MO.
