Two very interesting article in this months's Insight from IDEMA. First, The restructuring continues in 2000:Strong year for the PC's and HDD's, Pain for Components by Markk Geenen, TrendFocus. It's not really very encouraging for any part of this industry. Lot's of statistics. Some very disconcerting such as trends toward single disk drives. Second, The Emergence of the Personel Video Recorder and It's Enabling Technology by Jim Barton, CTO and co-founder, Tivo. It's a technical discussion of the device. Too bad it doesn't mention concerns over patent suits from Gemstar over content selection delivery. Here's a link to IDEMA.
