OT: EVERYTHING YOU WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT SINUS PROBLEMS

Well I can sympathize with all of you since I had some kind of intractable dental/sinus infection (first time in my life) for about 2 months, misdiagnosed as tooth problem for the first 5 weeks; and it was about the worst experience I can recall. It was very painful. I personally think the tooth problem created the sinus problem and then they kind of made each other worse together. I did a ton of research and it turns out the at least 25% of chronic sinusitis is of dental origin, which means you should get any root canals in your upper jaw checked (and perhaps redone or extracted)--the tooth roots often go into the maxillary sinus. And they can easily be infected even without an abscess, since each tooth has 3 miles of dentinal tubules that, even if you get a root canal and take out the nerve, bacteria can still reside in there. Then you should also see a good periodontist as periodontal bacterial pockets can increase sinusitis risk by double. Some people have sinusitis because the little tubes between their nose and their sinuses, which are very tiny, get blocked. In such case you can get a water pik and something called a Grossman irrigator (look it up on the web) and "irrigate" the nose with water and salt which can help these tubes clear out. (That was not my particular problem). Allergies can be a basis of such problems so I can see why quercitin helped margin mike, as quercitin is an antihistamine, and so is Vitamin C. If you have allergies the sinus membrane can swell in response and thus make a good ground for bacteria. In such case, you need to find out if you are allergic to certain foods, especially wheat and dairy; some people clear up chronic problems by changing their diet alone.

There is some other stuff I know of that apparently clears resistant problems but it is a bit unusual, but I have talked to some people who had years of horrible problems and are now completely well. But you can PM me about that if you're interested.

All the above should help anyway.

Jill
