Lynn ----

Are those popular trees big or small? I had a big wood stove and use to slide slices of a very big American Elm tree into the fire. No splitting American Elm --- I'd just saw slices about 5 or 6 inches wide with the chainsaw.

For those fast growing trees, just let them grow to about 8 inches at the base and cut them down. I had a friend that planted acres of water maples for the same purpose. He even painted his wood shed black to help cure his wood.

Do you need any wedges?

David
