With Brown & Co, there is only one rule: the amount of stock sold in a single day may not exceed the account's equity at the day's open. There is no penalty for holding a position overnight.

That sounds about right, but could you clarify the last sentence? Suppose for example you have $10,000 ABC stock and $10,000 cash at the start of the day. You hold the ABC stock all day and into the night. Are you saying you can still spend $20,000 that day, assuming of course you do not have more than $20,000 total in stock at the end of the day?
