Consistent with the tone of this thread this evening, I find there is an attitude to wear blinders here. While there are countless other examples, the fact the Ariad Pharmaceuticals in particular has not been mentioned once on a thread entitled as this one is...is kind of mind boggling. This is ESPECIALLY true after the events over the past couple of days. They've had countless news releases in addition to breakthrough data just reported in Science (which was covered in the press nationwide). Their science is pretty neat to boot.

And not one mention of this company on a thread called '2000-year of the biotechs'. What's wrong with this picture? Aria traded 16 million shares today (10th in the entire NASDAQ) and was up 75%+. One day last week it traded ~24 million shares (~3rd in volume on the NASDAQ) and was up substantially as well. The stock is up over 550% YTD and over 2000% since the fall.

And not a peep here....? Is this a 'Year of the Biotech' thread or, in reality, the 'Year to promote certain SELECT biotechs' club? If the latter, then the title of the thread is wholly inappropriate.

There's no question I'm an Ariad cheerleader (and I have no top ten list). On the same level, I tend to agree with the thrust of Mike's post: the discussion here seems to involve a certain 'preordained' list...regardless if some very exciting things are occurring outside this little kingdom.

I'll go away now.
