Well one thing is interesting about this, the reporting lines

"Reporting directly to Mr. Nelson are the operational leaders of product development, marketing, sales, and services. Steve L. Adams, recently promoted to senior vice president of worldwide marketing, is responsible for corporate positioning and programs and directs all corporate, field, and partner marketing activities. Dave Shirk, recently promoted to senior vice president of product
management, drives product focus and direction for the company and is responsible for all product, packaging, and pricing strategies. Joining Mr. Adams and Mr. Shirk in reporting to Mr. Nelson, are Ron Heinz, senior vice president of worldwide sales; and Richard Nortz, senior vice president of services."

So Sheridan and Ledbetter are reporting to Schmidt. Could this mean that Schmidt is going to focus on liberating the creativity of the engineering workforce at Novell? If so this is quite a streamlined re-org. Nelson will deal with the day to day operations of the present and the execution of the plan. Schmidt will deal with Novell's future and getting those ideas into products. Parallels to what Gates is doing?
