ADVISORY/Internet Appliances Poised to Overtake PC Sales by 2002

(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 7, 2000--

TOPIC: The Internet appliances market is expected to skyrocket and overtake sales of PCs by 2002, according to a study released today by the research firm International Data Corp. (IDC), Reuters reported. Internet appliances are devices which are intended solely to provide Internet access. The appeal of Internet appliances is their relatively low cost and ease-of-use, according to the study. The IDC forecasts that demand for smart appliances will come from consumers who don't have a PC but want Internet access and from individuals who already own a PC but want to go online from multiple locations.
