hmaly - More Green on Copper [sorry Peter]

He said: "I don't want to knock copper. If we had used copper it would have been a little bit easier but in manufacturing terms we can do this with aluminium."

I believe he is speaking of designing a five year old core to run at the stated speeds.

As an aside, didn't somebody predict last summer that Coppermine could possibly scale to 1.2 GHz on .18? Wasn't this person the source of much ridicule at the time?

Other slides show that Intel has managed to use the same aluminium design interconnect similated at over 200MHz the targeted frequency. Further, Intel claims: "There is no performance compromise for using proven Aluminum (sic) interconnect".
