London, Feb. 8 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. stocks were mixed in Europe. Amazon.com Inc. fell after it said a software unit is being investigated by U.S. regulators.

Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) fell 1 to 74, according to Madoff Securities International Ltd. The world's largest online retailer said the U.S. Federal Trade Commission is investigating its software unit that collects information about how people use the Internet.


Tell the folks on the site I will be in and out a lot otday due to some visitors we are hosting. They go bye-bye tomorrow afternoon, fortunately. I am downloading a new copy of MSIE 5.0 at home to see if I can get around that Java bug. Couldn't log on again after the close last night. Damn window wouldn't launch again and I was too tired to reboot everything.
