Albert Heijn to Implement Industri-Matematik/IBM Supply Chain Software Solution for Store Replenishment

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., and STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Feb. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- IBM
(NYSE: IBM) and Industri-Matematik International Corp. (Nasdaq: IMIC) today
announced that Albert Heijn, the $5 billion Netherlands retailer, has selected
VIVALDI(TM) software from Industri-Matematik in combination with IBM's MQ
series to streamline its store replenishment process and increase on-shelf
product availability. The joint supply chain solution will manage the
replenishment of Albert Heijn's 680 supermarkets from its six large
distribution centers in the Netherlands.

Albert Heijn will implement the solution to enable it to respond more
quickly to changes in consumer preference and adapt shelf stock and
availability accordingly. The software will enable the retailer to replenish
store shelves immediately, keeping stock levels to a minimum and customer
satisfaction at a maximum.

In the retail market, fast and faultless distribution and logistics play
an important role in the provision of quality and optimum service. Industri-
Matematik and IBM have great experience with retail organizations and a deep
knowledge of their supply chain needs.

At Albert Heijn, Industri-Matematik and IBM are teamed as part of the IBM
Global Supply Chain Management Initiative, a worldwide program to deliver
supply chain solutions that drive speed, service and profitability in e-
business. The joint solution at Albert Heijn combines Industri-Matematik's
VIVALDI Advanced Order Management and Fulfillment Center software with IBM's
Application Framework for e-business - an open, multi-platform approach for
building and deploying integrated applications, which utilizes MQ Series
messaging software.

Stig Durlow, chief executive officer of Industri-Matematik, is pleased
that Albert Heijn has shown confidence in the knowledge and experience of
Industri-Matematik. "It is widely known that Albert Heijn has a competitive
advantage due to its innovations in logistics and distribution," Durlow said.
"This agreement demonstrates how our applications can help retailers improve
in-store product availability and lower logistics costs."

Bill Paulk, general manager of ERP and SCM Solutions at IBM, believes that
IBM and Industri-Matematik form a powerful combination. According to Paulk,
"Together we can help companies manage their total supply chain more
efficiently. The joint solution for Albert Heijn illustrates the leadership we
have in providing innovative supply chain solutions that leverage e-business
to bring real customer value."
