LG sees profit in VSB digital TV technique February 8, 2000, CMP Media Inc., B.H. Seo SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA - LG Electronics, the parent of vestigial sideband (VSB) developer Zenith Electronics Corp., predicts large profits for its digital TV broadcast transmission technology as North American and Asian TV makers adopt its as a standard. LG, which owns the basic patent for VSB modulation, said a growing list of licensees in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Taiwan and South Korea could pay as much as $5 per digital TV set in royalties.
