Pete: It looks like the Japanese have found a way to whack their currency in order to give themselves a chance export their way out of their mess. Good luck, but that is the game they have wanted to play all along. There is obviously something seriously wrong there and we cannot get a grip on it without full disclosure. As for how it plays out with respect to our markets, short term anything can happen and the situation may be ignored. Longer term, the world economy may have to pay a price for their ineptitude. Imagine if we go into a slowdown and these guys are in the midst trying to suck from our straw and we have nothing to offer them. Looks like our strong economy has given them more time to delude themselves. Hard to imagine that nothing has changed there for over a decade.
