ComScape Standardizes on HiGain Solitaire and Targets Advanced Service Opportunities With HDSL2
TUSTIN, Calif., Feb. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- PairGain(R) Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: PAIR), the power behind DSL access(TM), today announced that ComScape Telecommunications, (West Palm Beach, FL), a rapidly growing Integrated Communications Provider (ICP), has chosen PairGain's HiGain Solitaire(TM) as its standard platform for DSL deployment. ComScape is a facilities-based CLEC, ISP, wireless PCS, voice-over-DSL and long distance services provider. HiGain Solitaire was selected for ComScape's DSL-based services because of the enhanced performance and cost savings provided by the PairGain solution. Fully compliant with the ANSI T1.418-2000 HDSL2 standard, HiGain Solitaire is already serving customers in ComScape's Charleston, West Virginia market. The ComScape deal adds considerable momentum to PairGain's assault on the HDSL2 market as more and more public network carriers embrace the benefits of this new technology and turn to HiGain Solitaire as the product of choice.
"We use DSL as the main artery in our network, offering high-speed Internet access, voice over DSL, T1 and other services to our customers," said Mr. Ghanshyam C. Patel, Chairman and CEO of ComScape. "The economics of using HDSL2 for provisioning these services makes it a very attractive technology. And by choosing HiGain Solitaire, we also get a 'best of breed' solution from the industry's leading manufacturer," added Patel.
ComScape is licensed to provide local (CLEC) and PCS wireless telecom services in several states with a combined population of more than 21 million. The Company is expanding its market footprint in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern United States to include a population base of 40 million by next year. ComScape plans to use HiGain Solitaire to increase its capacity for DSL services in existing locations and to maximize its copper infrastructure in new markets. ComScape will use PairGain's HiGain Wideband System 3190 (WBS-3190), a managed DS3-based access platform, to deploy HiGain Solitaire. The WBS-3190 provides a standards-based shelf from which to offer HDSL- and HDSL2-based services and is PairGain's latest HiGain system.
"ComScape represents another significant stride toward leading the HDSL2 market with HiGain Solitaire," said Dennis Young, PairGain's executive vice president, GM Telco Systems. "As the first HDSL2 solution in the world to be shipped, installed and turned up, we expect HiGain Solitaire to continue capturing significant market share."
