i hope the thread doesn't follow your lead...if you want to own the stock, and would accept the put, an overbought condition or all time high is not the time. if you believe it will sell off, you sell the put then to capture the prem

you always refer to "advanced strategy" if you were so "advanced" and thought csco was topping, you would without deliberation either buy puts, or sell naked calls...ride the stock down, capture all or a portion of the premium by buying in at a lower price, wait until k crosses d and sell puts or buy calls...

what don't you understand?
