mtnmomma~ Don't forget about the blue laser bowling pin that should be knocked down within 24 months (very pre-chasm) when Cree's first revenues from R&D in this area appear. The shorter wavelength of blue lasers enable it to hold twice the digital code as reds in the same wave space. I imagine this will eventually turn up in the CD and DVD markets but could be far more important in military communications and advanced computer networks. As a matter of fact a research group, Strategies Unlimited, estimates the blue laser market could be as high as $2 billion by 2006. Nichia will continue to be a main competitor, they were the first to develop it. Xerox, Sony and HP are also into it. Until then Cree's main source of revenue increase continues to be SiC high-brightness LEDs and wafers.~russ@lurkerdude.com
