HYDERABAD -- Andhra Pradesh has become the first State in the country to have Internet access facility in all its district headquarters.
This follows the A.P. Telecom Circle announcing the commissioning of new Internet nodes in different district towns on Thursday as part of the national internet backbone making net access possible throughout the State.
The new centres where the facility will be available are Khammam, Nalgonda, Eluru, Ongole, Nellore, Cuddapah, Tirupati, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Sangareddy, Mahabubnagar, Rajahmundry and Kurnool. Internet nodes are already in operation in Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Guntur and Anantapur.
The A.P. Telecom said the existing users of Internet from Adilabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Sangareddy, Mahabubnagar, East Godavari, Kurnool and Anantapur districts can continue to access Internet without change in access procedure.
However, Internet users from Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Eluru, Ongole, Tirupati, Guntur, Cuddapah, Nellore, Khammam and Nalgonda have to use roaming facility since their accounts are at Chennai. These users will be progressively transferred to the existing Hyderabad Internet node. Commercial officers of local secondary switching areas (SSAs) will notify these transfers to the users. For using roaming facility, the users have to enter complete e- mail address against user name. For example, if a customer's user name is "abcdzzz@md2" he has to enter "abcdzzz@md2.vsnl.net.in" against user name.
Subscribers seeking new Internet connections at these locations may contact commercial officers of the SSA concerned for creating their accounts at Hyderabad. There is no change in the present Internet access code of 172222. |
