I prefer C++ myself and have never used Delphi, but having used BC++B and knowing that Delphi uses the same model, I strongly disagree with your comments about Delphi. You'd be surprised how many well known companies write major applications in it. Recently I discovered that ColdFusion Studio is written in Delphi - it is my favorite application!

Regarding Java, and this is a personal opinion, it is a joke. Here is the scoop: Perl is just as portable and more flexible as glue material, so Java is more of an application development language. Ok, fine. Then I ask you, how many Java applications do you use???

Also, after using VB, BC++Builder, or Delphi try to use the Java development tools. HAH! Developers will know what I mean.

The truth is C and C++ aren't going away any time soon. If you want windows and Unix portability for application code written in C/C++ I believe Inprise has a good plan with BC++B.
