Sometime in December, someone(Jack Hartmann?) suggested I pin my picks for y2k up against Steve Harmon, a well-known analyst, who had a laudable performance last year.
My response was that his portfolio was unrealistic, as it was focused on net stocks.
I provided a balanced portfolio which covered several sectors to my subscribers on 1/3 which returned an easy 60% in January(February's portfolio looks to be even better) and following is Steve Harmon's performance.
In all fairness, his picks may be restricted to more liquid securities- but probably still an unrealistic and unrecommended portfolio.

Harmon's Picks - January Performance
Hello,
I have been using two SI public portfolios to keep track of Harmon's 2000 picks. One is based on Dec 31 1999 closing prices and the other is based on Jan 3rd 2000 opening prices. I like to use the Jan 3rd portfolio since those are the prices that most of the investors who follow the picks bought at.

1. Dec 31 1999 Prices: Portfolio is UP 2.9%

2. Jan 3rd 2000 Open Prices: Portfolio is DOWN 23.5%

Hope that February is much better for all of us.
